Role Purpose
To deliver, maintain, manage and support the UNIX Infrastructure environments within the group including the management of day to day operations in support of these environments. The position's key focus here is on the following: UNIX Operating Systems, Storage administration and maintenance of these systems as well as implementing upgrades, configuration remediation, and system enhancements and ensuring availability and scalability.
Responsibilities and work outputs
Functional:
- Providing information as input for strategic decision making
- Designing and Delivering required Infrastructure architectures that satisfy business strategy
- Participating in the definition and delivery of the operational plan
- Implementing operational plan in accordance with the agreed architecture and strategy
- Implementing and adhering to best practice guidelines, policies and procedures
- Ensuring operational efficiency within the department
- Maintaining the current functionality of information technology within the department
- Conducting the necessary resource planning of people and equipment to ensure the area is suitably enabled
- Prioritizing work and ensure delivery within their department
- Operational Reporting
- Implementing Infrastructure monitoring benchmarks
- Identifying and minimizing potential company risks and opportunities
- Efficient allocation and use of technology and resources
- Ensuring Service Level Agreements are met
- Collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient IT services
- Ensuring effective business alignment by developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders
- Ensuring the optimization, capacity building and continuous improvement of the department

Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in similar role
- Tertiary IT qualification (3 years degree/NQF Level 5 preferable a Level 6)
- UNIX infrastructure experience with UNIX and Storage skills
