Chief Sales Officer Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

What’s the role?
Overall responsibility for performance, growth and development of the Company’s Independent Sales Force.
Developing and delivering strategies to optimize Sales Force performance from a support and operational perspective.
Anticipating business needs, identifying strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate business risks; creating value through “customer” insights.
Developing short, medium and long term goals, KPIs, and objectives, and developing and executing against the Company’s purpose and vision.
Leading teams directly and through influence across multiple, complex programs, projects and organizational boundaries.
Providing direct support and coaching to front-line managers and supervisors.
Evaluating performance and productivity and identifying remedial action when required. Mapping and leading organization design efforts including defining operating models and workflows across multiple stakeholder groups.
Leading change initiatives, including transformation strategies to enable transition from current state to desired state, including the design, development, and delivery of communications and change plans.
Leading role clarity and process improvement initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups, including the alignment between leaders, teams, and individuals and ongoing evaluations to ensure effectiveness.
Influencing leaders and stakeholders through compelling communication and practical recommendations for action.
Effectively prioritizing resources and ensuring speed in delivering high-impact work.
Driving a culture of continuous improvement while designing pragmatic solutions to integrate, align, and advance company priorities.
Uses analytics and statistical skills to leverage sales force data to assess performance and improve business results.
Creating and maintaining budgets.
Liaison between Sales Force and support departments – Merchandise, Marketing, Logistics, etc.

Degree in Business Management or Masters in Business Administration or equivalent Preferably a Degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Behaviour, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology OR 5+ Organization Design and Development experience
10 plus years of experience in developing and translating business strategies into practical people initiatives in a medium to large organisation with some of the following characteristics: o High performance culture o Large number of team members o Where operational efficiency is a key metric
Influential leader with strong leadership skills, executive presence and business acumen Good knowledge of different business functions
Excellent relationship-building and networking skills
Experience working in rural and less developed areas of South Africa would be advantageous
Superior communication skills, particularly verbal
Ability to communicate in isiZulu and isiXhosa would be advantageous
